The Why Me? Meme (shh it is almost tomorrow)
The Why Me? Meme
or: Oh come on, a giant sentient penis in a chariot? Really?
or: Oh come on, a giant sentient penis in a chariot? Really?
So, I've noticed that we have a section on the app for why we chose the arcana we did, which is pretty awesome.
But while we have a directory of taken persona, nowhere do we actually have to explain why we chose the one we chose!
So here's a place to do that. Tell the rest of the game why you saddled your character with the large shouty
magic-spewing mental projection you did!
I apologize for my lack of meme coding skills, sob.

* His name is 'Baron' with a 'g' tacked onto the end, and Inku likes cheap puns.
* He's not from Norse or Roman mythology, which I felt would be too obvious in Klaus's case (plus all the gods that would fit him from those pantheons were taken or used by canon characters).
* His myth is very similar to Klaus's life: a god (Spark) who is the protector of mankind (the citizens of Europa) battling with an evil witch (Lucrezia) who is reborn every time she's killed (she's already come back from the 'other side' once and there's currently three of her running around) to restore the balance between Good and Evil in the world. Pretty cut and dry as the same story but with a lion dragon god thing.
* He has lightning magic. Klaus is a mad scientist. I rest my case.

...Actually considering the fact Lancer used a chariot when he was alive, and some of his.... habits. Mara might have fit in an awful way.
...But yeah, Ferdiad is the name of Lancer's, aka Cu Chulainn's (oh no spoilers for the first 15 minutes of Fate/Stay), closest friend. The only person he called a brother, in life. Despite the way things between them ended (read it for yourself, sheesh.) Ferdiad is still the first person he'd think of to have his back.

Yeah. I think that summed everything up about Vriska pretty well.

Normally Empress Arcana are associate with ice magic, according to the megami tensei wikia anyway, but I found Brigid it just seemed to fit Saori. Basic fire symbolism goes here about destruction but also warmth and comfort. This is also reflected in her skills set: mainly fire and healing spells.

For a lot of hilarious ironic reasons, and the fact that Asura and Karna are basically polar opposites of each other, as Karna's level-headed with a very cool, even temper, whilst his Asura is more hot-blooded and has the shorter temper. Aside from that, I also found it funny that Karna's of Hinduism mythology, while Persona!Asura is of Buddhism, since both religions have a bit of similarity with a few things, one of which is that they both have the race of beings called "Asura".
Also, I chose it in case there was a Soul Eater!Asura here one day, just to see the look on their faces in the game when they find out that there's another being with their name. |D

Her Persona is Eligor. A knightly Persona on a steed, he can related a bit with Saber due to the loyalty aspect as well as being an adept rider. The snippet that really pinged me for Saber was:
"He can discover hidden things and knows of things to come and of wars and how the soldiers shall meet."
Saber has a special ability in canon that allows her to have a good instinct in battle - a sixth sense. Due to that and the Knights of the Round, I thought he was a pretty good substitute.

Diarmuid doesn't hate Grainne, so it would have been improper to pick up a Persona to reflect that. However, there's some conflict between her Arcana (The Lovers) and Scathach, which places her at a disadvantage. Scathach may have felt some love towards Cu Chulainn, but that's diving a bit too much into head canon.
The two can relate with each other well though as they both hold the strong desire to "protect" the one they care for, so they are a perfect counter for Diarmuid. Additionally, I made her skill set to focus on Cu Chulainn's weaknesses just in case.
As if a level 1 can stand a chance against a level 40+ Persona HA.no subject
Issei Ryudo | Jikokuten (http://megamitensei.wikia.com/wiki/Jikokuten)
For Issei, I wanted a Persona from Buddhist mythology, or Japanese at the very least. Jikokuten fit - a guardian of Buddha's realm, he has Issei's chosen Arcana and reflects his need to protect his friends
from their own stupidity.Ryuunosuke Uryuu | Vetala (http://megamitensei.wikia.com/wiki/Vetala)
Ryuunosuke has a thing about demons - he summoned Caster trying to summon one, after all. He's also a serial killer who focuses on children, and a Vetala spirit can kill them just as easily. It's also scary-looking.
Ledah Rozwelli | Bishamonten (http://megamitensei.wikia.com/wiki/Bishamonten)
I had such a hard time coming up with Ledah's Persona. It needed to be fire-based because of his powers, it needed to be divine in some way... In the end I went with another of the Heavenly Kings, like Issei's Persona. He had the right skillset.
V/V | Alice (http://megamitensei.wikia.com/wiki/Alice)
Can you believe there are a shortage of cute girls in the Death Arcana?
Eater | Odr (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%93%C3%B0r)
Eater was hard because a lot of the Lovers Personas had already been taken. There was also the problem of the two personalities involved. In the end I decided to reach out of the canon Personas and into Norse mythology - where the angelic races in the series are based - and pick a figure from there. I went with Odr, a little more obscure but powerful enough to be noticed. Wikipedia tells me it's Old Norse for "mad, frantic, furious, vehement, eager", as a noun "mind, feeling" and also "song, poetry". Which sounds pretty good to me for both sides. Odr is also a Lovers Persona solely because his only job is to be Freya's husband. He doesn't do anything else.

1) She had sand based powers before arriving.
2) Something insightful about dragons and her personality.
3) It's cute. (http://megamitensei.wikia.com/wiki/Sand_Dragon)
4) Something insightful about it's appearance showing her true nature or some crap like that.
5) I'll do this properly when it's a decent hour.

also never not going to use this icon when talking about personas.

Her Persona is Ishtar (http://chastehuntress.livejournal.com/2228.html).
Aside from trolling purposes, there's some resemblance between the two of them. As the goddess of fertility, Archer has no interest in that sort of thing for herself, but for others she supports it. Wishing to promote love so that no child is left as an orphan, the two of them are an excellent combination.
I won't even mention the war aspect. Then there's the parallels with Aphrodite and a bunch of other mythological things that I can tl;dr on if you really like.no subject
(Also, if you consider the myths about Undines in relationships and Feferi's canon romantic relationships...yeah.)
Alice has Parvati, which isn't nearly so obvious. But the associations with creation mimic Alice's own 'creation' of her dolls and the thought that she's a created being in some interpretations of her character.

So, yep, that's the reason why. xD /fail

There's the more blatant part (find out on your own ke ke ke), and the more subtle one -- her world got turned to crap long ago because of a malevolent deity, said deity came in the form of a giant woman who had the appearance of a white statue.

1) Forneus is a demon, and not just in the SMT sense -- he's straight from Ars Goetia, the demon-summoning chapter of the Lesser Key of Solomon. Given that Edgeworth was once known as the Demon Prosecutor and he's not exactly sweetness and light even after his change of heart, a reference to that title seemed like a good way to go.
2) Forneus has ice abilities in the SMT franchise, and Edgeworth is a fairly cold person with an even colder outer shell (and glare). He gets associated with ice practically everywhere in the fandom for a reason.
3) In the Lesser Key of Solomon, Forneus's abilities are described as involving knowledge of rhetoric (which is to say, debate) and language, as well as making people have a good reputation and be loved by both his friends and his enemies. Now consider Edgeworth: skilled debater, went on a tour of several foreign countries to learn about their court systems firsthand (a difficult thing to do if he didn't know a few extra languages), somehow managed to reverse his "demon prosecutor" reputation in only a couple of years despite how little actual prosecution he did during that time, tends to impress even those who hate him and even pick up stalkers unwillingly despite his demeanor and attitude...
Two things popped out as making Forneus an even better pick long after I had made the decision. One, Forneus's seal is supposed to be done in silver, which is exactly the right precious metal to match his overall look. (Remember those cufflinks, everyone?) Two, it seems that in the parts of the SMT franchise where demons get speaking parts, Forneus is very arrogant, an exaggeration of a flaw from Edgeworth's "demon prosecutor" days that still occasionally echoes today. -- Pteryx

The funny part, however, gets into the contest of exactly where Chiwoo originated. It was either Southeast China, or the Korean Peninsula. It is something that Chinese and Korean historians fight over to this day.

Soooo I flipped through various goddesses looking for a persona, as most of the ones available just didn't fit. That didn't work. I narrowed it down to Roman and Greek goddesses because I know those best. Still didn't get very far. I changed it to "virgin goddesses." And I found Bona Dea.
I'd never heard of her before, so I looked around some more. She exists! Bona Dea was the "good goddess" and was known for chastity, fertility and healing and protection (over the roman state and people). Fuu's a very chaste, easily embarrassed character, and she's obviously associated with healing and protection. I also felt it was very fitting for Fuu to end up with something described as good--because that's what she is. She was symbolized with the cornucopia and the snake, which are, I believe, associated with generosity and healing, respectively.
Unfortunately, due to the fact that she was very much a women's goddess, there's little more known about her--men didn't even know her true name. So most of her other attributes remain unknown :|a But the "healing and protection" bit sunk it for me.

OKAY NO NOT AT ALL TBH WHOOPS.
I picked Hua Mulan for Ruler because of one common thing: they're both women warriors during a time when it wasn't socially acceptable. However, whereas Ruler was eventually cast out and burned for what she did, Mulan was able to serve for as long as she wanted and eventually returned home peacefully. I though it was an interesting parallel: both went to fight in another's place, but only one of them was praised during their time.
Ruler hasn't awoken her Persona yet (... I think LMFAO WHAT IS MAKING DECISIONS), but I can't help but think she'd feel a bit jealous towards Mulan. If a Persona is supposed to like your hidden psyche, then it's basically saying that she wishes she could have at least lived with what she did rather than be killed for it.

Diarmuid is of the Tower arcana with Cu Chulainn--that was an easy choice, based mainly on his victory quote against the real thing in Fate/Unlimited Codes. 'It was an unbelievable honor to have a match with the Prince of Light... I will cherish this memory deeply.' In short? He's a debatably-canon fanboy. Even if that wasn't the case, given that the Fenian Cycle isn't remotely far removed from the Ulster Cycle there is essentially no possible way Diarmuid wouldn't have at least heard of him. Considering both of their positions as Irish knights, there's no other Persona better for him.
Rider is of the Fortune arcana and gets Cthulhu--and not the Megaten version, she'd just laugh her ass off at that one. I debated between Undine, the Kraken, pretty much every water-based figure
and even Mother Harlot at one point i don't know whyHer skillset is based on water and fire mainly; water for obvious reasons and fire as a reference to hellburners. It includes a couple 'double'/'twin' physical attacks to match her twin pistols and eventually Debilitate to reference the fact that Cthulhu's appearance causes people to lose their damn minds. As for why Cthulhu specifically? Well, I went for the most badass thing I could think of with any connection to the ocean. It was this or a Sharktopus.someone app anyone to have a sharktopus now. do it.no subject
Because there are three different types of Angels Godo deals with on a daily basis. WHY NOT ADD ANOTHER?
Herpderp late.
Albedo: The White Rider is, as Gaignun-mun mentioned, a canon reference. At one point in the series, a character refers to Jr., Gaignun and Albedo as the Red, Black and White horses respectively. It also fits him, because there's a debate about whether the White Rider is good or evil and the jury's out on Albedo, too, as he's been both a major antagonist and a vital ally over the series and pretty much defies sorting into black and white viewpoints altogether.
